Pere Noel may be a Christmas ale, but don't confuse it with the typical rich, sweet, and syrupy holiday beers you may be used to. This one is 7% ABV, amber-colored, and, in true De Ranke fashion, delightfully bitter from the use of whole-cone hops. The complex taste is completed with the addition of just a bit of licorice. In the recipe, you'll also find Pale, Munich and Caramel malt along with Brewers Gold and Hallertau hops.
