Gaja Ca'Marcanda Bolgheri

Angelo Gaja identified the only land in the Bolgheri area that was not planted with vines, and after several meetings with the previous owners, the negotiations successfully closed at the end of 1996. For this reason, the name Ca’Marcanda is derive from a Piedmontese dialect expression which can be translated as “The House of Endless Negotiations.”

Ca'Marcanda presented a unique opportunity to cultivate vineyards and design a winery on entirely untouched land. Today, the Gaja family aims to produce wines that reflect the characteristics of Bolgheri: balanced by a middle structure, moderate alcohol, and a vibrant expression of freshness.
