Before George Smith licensed his distillery in 1824, the remote Glenlivet valley was the perfect setting for the illicit whisky trade. Single malt scotch whisky was distilled in handcrafted, small copper stills in hidden away bothies. It was back then that George started making what would soon become a world-renowned single malt scotch whisky which reshaped the conventions of the time, expanding people's horizons in taste and setting the signature fruity floral Speyside style. The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still is our way of never forgetting where it all began. This limited-edition pays tribute to our founder's original, illegally distilled, The Glenlivet whisky. On the nose, soft peaches intertwine with warming cinnamon and gingerbread. On the palate, golden honey and vanilla notes layer perfectly with hazelnut and liquorice, resulting in a long and slight sweet finish with lasting spice notes.
