The Vieux Carré originated in New Orleans in the 1940s, and this variant brings a Chinese spirit into the mix, reflecting the growing interest in global flavors in modern mixology.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill the Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a mixing glass, combine 1.5 oz of baijiu, 0.75 oz of sweet vermouth, and 0.75 oz of rye whiskey.
Step 3.
- Add 2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Step 4.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.
Step 5.
- Empty the ice water from the chilled glass and strain the mixture into it.
Step 6.
- Garnish with a twist of lemon and a cherry.
