Step 1.
- Chill a champagne flute by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of light rum, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup.
Step 3.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled champagne flute.
Step 5.
- Top off the drink with 2 to 3 oz of chilled champagne.
Step 6.
- Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim of the glass.
