History

The Last Word originated in the Prohibition era, originally served at the Detroit Athletic Club. It gained renewed popularity in cocktail culture in the early 2000s.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill a cocktail glass.
Step 2.
- In a shaker, combine 3/4 oz of gin, 3/4 oz of lime juice, 3/4 oz of green Chartreuse, and 3/4 oz of maraschino liqueur.
Step 3.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled cocktail glass.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
