Description
A classic cocktail with equal parts of gin, lime juice, green Chartreuse, and maraschino liqueur, the Last Word is known for its perfect balance of sweet, sour, and herbal flavors.
History
The Last Word originated in the Prohibition era, originally served at the Detroit Athletic Club. It gained renewed popularity in cocktail culture in the early 2000s.
Instructions
Step 1.
- Chill a cocktail glass.
Step 2.
- In a shaker, combine 3/4 oz of gin, 3/4 oz of lime juice, 3/4 oz of green Chartreuse, and 3/4 oz of maraschino liqueur.
Step 3.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled cocktail glass.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
