The Last Word emerged in the early 20th century and gained popularity during the Prohibition, often associated with speakeasies and creative bartending.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill a coupe glass by filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a shaker, combine 3/4 oz of gin, 3/4 oz of green Chartreuse, 3/4 oz of maraschino liqueur, and 3/4 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice.
Step 3.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled coupe glass.
Step 5.
- Discard the ice water from the glass before pouring.
