Step 1.
- Chill the coupe glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.
Step 3.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake well until the outside is frosty.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled coupe glass.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
