History

The Sazerac originated in New Orleans in the 19th century, traditionally made with rye whiskey. This variation incorporates Pisco, adding a unique South American flavor while maintaining the essence of the original.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside.
Step 2.
- In a separate mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Pisco, 1 sugar cube, and a few dashes of Peychaud's bitters.
Step 3.
- Muddle the sugar until dissolved, then add ice and stir until well chilled.
Step 4.
- Discard the ice from the chilled Old Fashioned glass.
Step 5.
- Rinse the glass with a small amount of absinthe, swirling it to coat the inside, then discard the excess.
Step 6.
- Strain the Pisco mixture into the prepared glass.
Step 7.
- Garnish with a twist of lemon peel, expressing the oils over the drink.
