Step 1.
- Chill a coupe glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to cool it down.
Step 2.
- In a cocktail shaker, add 2 ounces of rye whiskey, 1 ounce of sweet vermouth, and 1/2 ounce of fresh lemon juice.
Step 3.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake well until the mixture is chilled, about 15 seconds.
Step 4.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled coupe glass.
Step 5.
- Twist a lemon peel over the drink to release its oils and drop it in as a garnish.
