History

The mint julep is traditionally associated with the American South, particularly Kentucky, where it became popular during the 19th century. This sparkling variation adds a modern twistwhile maintaining the refreshing essence of the original.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Muddle the fresh mint leaves and sugar in the bottom of a julep cup to release the mint oils.
Step 2.
- Add crushed ice to the cup, filling it to the top.
Step 3.
- Pour the bourbon over the ice and stir gently to combine the ingredients.
Step 4.
- Top off with sparkling water to add fizz.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lemon.
