History

The Vieux Carré, which means 'Old Square' in French, is named after the French Quarter in New Orleans. It was created in the 1930s and reflects the city's rich cocktail culture.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Fill a mixing glass with ice.
Step 2.
- Add 3/4 oz rye whiskey, 3/4 oz sweet vermouth, 3/4 oz Bénédictine, and 2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters.
Step 3.
- Stir well until chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain into an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and an orange twist.
