History

The Vieux Carré originated in the French Quarter of New Orleans in the 1930s, combining the city's rich cocktail traditions with a unique blend of spirits.

Instructions

Step 1.
- In a mixing glass, combine 3/4 oz rye whiskey, 3/4 oz sweet vermouth, and 3/4 oz cognac.
Step 2.
- Add 1/2 oz Bénédictine and a couple dashes of Angostura bitters.
Step 3.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain into an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a lemon twist and a cherry.
