The Boulevardier originated in the early 20th century and is a sophisticated blend of bourbon or rye, sweet vermouth, and Campari. This variant introduces absinthe for an aromatic and refreshing layer, marrying traditional flavors with a modern twist.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill a cocktail glass by filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a mixing glass, combine 1.5 oz rye whiskey, 0.75 oz sweet vermouth, and 0.5 oz Campari.
Step 3.
- Add a dash of absinthe (about 0.1 oz) to the mixture.
Step 4.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled.
Step 5.
- Empty the ice water from the cocktail glass, then strain the mixture into the chilled glass.
Step 6.
- Garnish with an orange twist, expressing the oils over the drink.
