History

The Sazerac is a New Orleans classic, traditionally made with rye whiskey and absinthe. This variation adds a fairy-like allure with delicate herbal notes from absinthe, enhancing the original recipe's depth.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.
Step 2.
- In a separate mixing glass, muddle one sugar cube with a few dashes of Peychaud’s bitters and a splash of water until the sugar dissolves.
Step 3.
- Add 2 ounces of rye whiskey to the mixing glass filled with ice.
Step 4.
- Stir until well chilled, about 30 seconds.
Step 5.
- Discard the ice water from the chilled Old Fashioned glass.
Step 6.
- Rinse the glass with 1/4 ounce of absinthe, swirling it around to coat the interior and then discarding the excess.
Step 7.
- Strain the chilled rye mixture into the prepared glass.
Step 8.
- Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and drop it in as garnish.

0.25 oz Absinthe
1 piece Lemon twist (garnish)
