Step 1.
- Chill a coupe glass by filling it with ice water and setting aside.
Step 2.
- In a shaker, combine 1.5 oz of absinthe, 0.5 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 0.75 oz of simple syrup.
Step 3.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled.
Step 4.
- Dump the ice water from the chilled glass and strain the mixture into the coupe glass.
Step 5.
- Carefully layer 0.5 oz of blood orange juice on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Step 6.
- Garnish with an orange twist, expressing the oils over the drink before placing it on the rim.
