Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In a mixing glass, combine 2 ounces of bourbon or rye whiskey and 1/2 ounce of Fernet.
Step 3.
- Add 1/4 ounce of simple syrup and a couple dashes of Angostura bitters to the mixing glass.
Step 4.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled, about 30 seconds.
Step 5.
- Discard the ice from the chilled Old Fashioned glass and strain the mixture into the glass over a large ice cube.
Step 6.
- Express the oil from an orange twist over the drink, then add the twist as a garnish.
