History
The Mudslide cocktail originated in the 1970s in Ireland, combining the classic flavors of coffee and chocolate with a creamy finish. The layered version adds an extra visual appeal, showcasing the cocktail's rich ingredients.
Instructions
Step 1.
- Prepare three separate mixtures: one for the coffee layer, one for the chocolate layer, and one for the cream layer.
Step 2.
- For the coffee layer, combine 1 ounce of vodka, 1 ounce of coffee liqueur, and 1 ounce of brewed coffee in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into the glass, creating the first layer.
Step 3.
- For the chocolate layer, mix 1 ounce of vodka and 1 ounce of chocolate liqueur in a shaker with ice. Slowly pour this mixture over the back of a spoon to create the second layer on top of the coffee layer.
Step 4.
- For the cream layer, combine 1 ounce of heavy cream and 1 ounce of white crème de cacao. Once mixed, pour gently over the back of a spoon to create the final layer on top.
Step 5.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings on top of the cream layer.
