Step 1.
- Muddle 5 fresh basil leaves in a shaker to release their oils.
Step 2.
- Add 2 oz Scotch whiskey, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup to the shaker with ice.
Step 3.
- Shake vigorously until well chilled.
Step 4.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Step 5.
- Garnish with a fresh basil leaf.
