History

The Sazerac dates back to the 19th century, originally made with cognac. The introduction of rye whiskey added a new dimension, and in this version, Scotch brings its distinctive character to the classic cocktail.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice or placing it in the freezer.
Step 2.
- In a separate mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Scotch whisky and 1 sugar cube.
Step 3.
- Add 3 dashes of aromatic bitters.
Step 4.
- Muddle the sugar and bitters until dissolved, then fill the mixing glass with ice.
Step 5.
- Stir until well chilled.
Step 6.
- Discard the ice from the chilled glass, and rinse it with 1/4 oz of absinthe, swirling it around to coat the inside of the glass before discarding the excess.
Step 7.
- Strain the chilled Scotch mixture into the prepared glass.
Step 8.
- Garnish with a lemon twist, expressing the oils over the surface of the drink and placing it on the rim.

3 dashes Aromatic Bitters
0.25 oz Absinthe
1 Lemon twist (garnish)
