The Sazerac is a historic cocktail originating from New Orleans. By incorporating Scotch, this version adds a depth of smoke and complexity that appeals to whisky lovers.

Instructions

Step 1.
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water.
Step 2.
- In another glass, add 2 oz of Scotch and a sugar cube.
Step 3.
- Add a few dashes of Angostura bitters onto the sugar cube and muddle until dissolved.
Step 4.
- Add a small amount of absinthe to the chilled Old Fashioned glass and swirl to coat the interior, then discard the excess.
Step 5.
- Pour the Scotch mixture into the absinthe-coated glass.
Step 6.
- Stir gently to combine.
Step 7.
- Express the oils from a lemon peel over the drink and use it as garnish.
