Step 1.
- Prepare a smoke infusion using wood chips in a smoking gun or a small smoker.
Step 2.
- In an Old Fashioned glass, muddle the sugar cube with a few dashes of Angostura bitters and a splash of water to dissolve the sugar.
Step 3.
- Add the dark rum and large ice cube to the glass, stirring gently to combine.
Step 4.
- Carefully infuse the drink with smoke, covering it with a cocktail dome or another glass to trap the smoke for a few moments.
Step 5.
- Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry before serving.
